We have an active and exciting Senior Adult Ministry here at Amite!  1985 saw the birth of our E.S.P. Ministry (Extra Special People) -- a monthly luncheon for Senior Adults.  At the outset this ministry presented special programs addressing the unique needs of Senior Adults and celebrating with them the significant events of their lives.  An atmosphere of creativity has characterized this fellowship event each month.  Today, it is more exciting than ever. 

• ANNUAL WEEK-LONG TRIP - Usually in the Fall and/or Spring, we have taken a large group of Senior Adults to Branson, MO, Pigeon Forge, TN, San Antonia, TX, Mobile, AL, Myrtle Beach, SC, Nashville, TN and other exciting destinations.
   
  
• ANNUAL SENIOR ADULT CHATACAQUAS AND CONFERENCES - Cooperating with other Christian groups we have participated in a number of conferences and conventions promoting spiritual unity and fellowship.
  
  
• ONE-DAY TRIPS - We have stayed active going to New Orleans, LA, Foley, AL, Vicksburg, MS, Lafayette, LA, Gulfport, MS and all throughout Louisiana.
  
  
• MYSTERY TRIPS - Some of the most exciting events have been those trips announced only by time and date in which we travel to special sites for special events unknown until we arrive.
  
  
• MID-WEEK MID-DAY BIBLE STUDIES - A great group gathers each Wednesday morning at 10:30 am for the systematic study of Scripture, led by our pastor.  Ongoing now for years, we have made our way thought all of Isaiah, Jeremiah, Lamentations, Daniel, Ezekiel, Hosea, Joel, Amos, Jonah, Micah and more.
  
  
• SENIOR ADULTS MINISTERING - Along with the regular age-grade ministries throughout our church body, the Senior Adults are significantly involved in many of the most dynamic and important ministries of the church such as the Easter Drama and The Choice.  The two evangelistic events touch nearly 12,000 jointly and are strategic opportunies for Senior Adults to service, minister, and fellowship.Creativity in activities, events, and ministries will continue to be a hallmark of our Senior Adult Ministry. There will always be a warm and inviting fellowship of believers and friends waiting for you as you move through the fall and winter of life.

As time passed, The Senior Adult Council organized to give additional leadership to developing our Senior Adult Ministry.  May special opportunities have been added because of their effort.
